Quiet, kind and genuine, James Taylor has a tremendous capacity for empathy, without making a mountain of a molehill. His music is fresh and smooth. His lyrics are sensitive and delivering lucid humanist messages. To my opinion, James Taylor composed among the most beautiful ballads. Such as “Up On The Roof”. I suppose anyone wants to sneak in his or her personal place to break free, away from the rumors of the world .
“When this old world starts a getting me down
And people are just too much for me to face
I’m gonna climb way up to the top of the stairs
And all my cares just drift right into space”
“We got the stars up above us and the city lights below
Up on my roof now”
Sometimes, you have to stand back, view the world from a perspective and fully appreciate. Taylor’s songs are really striking a chord inside our soul. This is James Taylor’s art: singing about the universality of our emotions and hanging on flowing melodies, softhearted and smile-inducing lyrics.
